Actually, they are SUPPOSED to be compatible. I can get it working just fine if I use an ADSL modem and not my Netgear DG834 router.
Has anyone else experienced problems iChatting with AIM users using this brand of router?
Regards
Dave

Your routeur is not compatible because of its built in firewall.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93208
You need to write a new Firewall rule
Enter in the driver of your routeur with your web brooser. http://IP address of your routeur, ID : admin,
password : password
Then choose in “security” to the left the item “firewall rules”
under the table “entrance services” or thing like that (sorry I am french and my driver is in french) clic on add.
Then select any(all)(tcp/udp:1,65535
below always authorize
then enter the IP address of your computer
wan users select all
This opens all the ports iChat needs. This should work.;)
