hi,
im using msn 6..
me and my frd tried to have an audio conversation
but it never works becauz we always receive the msg “the computer u r connecting with r having network problems” or sth like that
and we dont know wut is wrong
could it be a firewall problem?
i think b4 i started using a router, i could connect w/ my frd and have an audio conversation?
thx
sounds to me like you cannot directly connect to your contacts computer and/or your contacts cannot directly connect to your computer
that would also explain this…

check your firewall, make sure messenger can use all the ports it needs for the services you are having trouble with
and if its not any firewall problems then i rekkon its ya router 🙂
if it’s the router what should i do?
is there anyway I can turn off the build-in firewall in the router? @@ 🙁
I am so glad I found this forum!
I will be trying the “no audio” solution suggested here and report my findings. Here’s what I now have (besides no MSN IM audio capability):
******************
MSN Messenger Version 6.1.0203
Windows 98
Location of RTCD11.dll files:
C:\WindowsSystem
C:\WindowsWinsxsx86_Microsoft WindowsNetworking.RtcDll_6595b64144ccf1df_5.2.21_x-22_d6bd8b93
The file in each directory is of the same origination date (8/4/03) and same Ver: 4.2.4949.1001
However, the .dll file in the System directory is 903,248 bytes
and the one in the other directory is 848,896 bytes.
