MemberAs far as I understand, he is running Awaybox with his AIM. He found that Awaybox connects to the internet (of course) and send you pop-ups (that is not that obvious). So he is warning us, that having Awaybox could be a cause of pop-ups.
Now, given the fact that I am running Awaybox with my AIM too, I am curious about how he got to that conclusion. As he said, I went to check my IE history, and, of course, Awaybox was in it, given that it takes the theme from the web, and everything you do with it is through website forms. Now, I didnt find any connection through Awaybox to any pop-up, or any pop-up call in any of the Awaybox connections.
So, my question is, did you?, how did you got to that conclusion?, because from my history I would say it does not.

MemberCan someone find out what server AwayBox connects to? That way you can just update your HOSTS file (info on HOST files here) and block the server without using programs like zonealarm.

MemberThis happens to me also, I run ad-aware and spybot and even spywareblaster to get rid of everything. I don’t even use Internet Explorer, and I have no pop-ups when I don’t run aim with awaybox, but when I do run awaybox, on 2 separate computers, pop-ups from http://webpdp.gator.com/4/message/246/pn/adtegrity_gator_us_pop_new.html?q=cD0zMzImZD0xMTI4MiZlbD0xJnc9UUJuUmFncjdCcGtBQUc2Y1JPYw%3D%3D&de=1 and other gator sites, I’m not sure if it is always this one, but always from the webpdp.gator.com site, which I have added to the restricted sites. But before I ran the immunization with spybot it would also bring up a window trying to install some gator program. So it is Awaybox that is causing this.
