Memberokay, i still don’t understand why everyone is saying that Kazaa Lite is toast. i’m still using it…it still works and i can still download music…do you mean that the RIAA will soon shut it down or something? I seriously don’t understand.

MemberTo answer your question Flaming_Guns, The fast track network is changing the way kazaa connects to their network, so unless k++ is updated it wont be able to connect to the network anymore and you will have to start using Diet kazaa or the original kazaa. But from what I’ve heard development on k++ by other users has not stopped and that it will continue to be updated for full combatibilite with the fastrack network.

Memberpersonally i like limewire. i’ve only had kazaa in the past (which sucks imho) so i dunno about other p2ps that ppl are bringing up
limewire has no spyware. u get a whole bunch more search results than kazaa. (although i like kazaa’s search utility better than limewire’s). and it downloads faster (dunno why really it just does for me)January 17, 2004 at 9:25 am #52492Atlas
ParticipantOk there is a new kazaa lite its official name is “K-lite”. Its more of an add on than a program but it works great. Although you have to download KMD 2.6 the k-lite installer will tweak and prevent KMD to install spyware and such other 3rd party programs from stealing information and such on your computer. The newest release is k-lite 2.6 PR-1 (PR pre-release). This build is infact LEGAL and does everything that the old kazaalite 2.4.3 did plus with the tabbed search feature built into KMD 2.6 its a fine replacment. Sence it is the newest build of KMD the downloads are faster and the searchs are much quicker and files are much easier to find. I give the pre release a 8 out of 10. You can pick up the lastest build of K-lite at fasttrack forums.

MemberSome of the previous posts have stated that when KMD upgrades its protocols those using kazaalite, k++ or k-lite whatever you like to call your version will be unable to connect to the Kazaa fasttrack network. There is error in this, because as long as there are supernodes that are still using k-lite or an earlier version of kazaa those using k-lite will still be able to trade, they just won’t be able to see any of the supernodes using the proper KMD, so there is really no way that k-lite can become obsolete besides users choosing alternate file sharing networks.
Personally i think that the updating of the protocol could be a good thing for k-lite users as a lot of the corrupt files would not be coming from k-lite hosts but from proper KMD users, resulting in an increase in the quality of the network even though the amount of files will be less they should be of better quality.

Memberthere’s a kazaa lite out there that sets your participation level to 1000 regardless of whether you’re sharing or not. this way you can use all of your bandwith just for downloading by disabling the sharing option
