MemberA program is being spammed in the Yahoo! Chat rooms. Instead of spamming a webpage, the exact URL to the file is spammed.
The program is Yahoo Skiner v1.1 , being promoted by d_y_n_a_s_t_y, filename yahskinerv1.1.exe and yahooskinerv1.1.zip
It claims to allow you to skin Yahoo! Messenger in a few clicks, coming with many skins built in.
The file actually contains back door trojans. Do not download the file.

MemberI personally never go to any websites posted in chat rooms, could be a booter site, site with trojans or viruses, or who knows what. More then likely people are up to no good, could also be a password stealer, who knows what new tricks people are coming up with. Best policy is to never mess with sites posted in chat rooms. And if i was gonna try to trojan someone i would disguise it in a porn site, you gotta stay two steps ahead of them. If u can think of it it’s already out there.

…or stealing cookies.

MemberIf someone knows what they are doing(enough to actually do anything with it) they can get your ip in Yahoo! ne way, as far as cookies go, while back there was an exploit a friend of a friend had, an he could get the cookie to any id signed into messenger, we could make applets and log the ids into games, and heard you could log them into messenger as well, people would freak out seeing you on their ids. But yahoo patched this, they made cookies so they would update every 24-48 hours instead of never changing. And they also patched the way the guy was stealing them. This was a year ago, i think.
If anyone ever says they have your cookie, or that they can decrypt a cookie, they are full of it, even if they have your cookie theres not much they can do with it. People used to tell me they was hacking my cookie an decrypting it, i would paste them my cookie. Theres a lot of different programs, you put your id and password into them, and it spits out your cookie, was always weary of them, but never lost any ids with them.

That is what a yahoo! cookie looks like^

MemberYou’re right. Thans for the info.
The only thing they can decrypt from the cookie is the main id or the account name.June 17, 2003 at 5:18 am #61435Johnson
MemberYes, sounds like you have cracked with proxies b4:confused:

MemberI’m new here. I have been having problems in yahoo chat with people for a couple of months. Every time I go into chat they know who I’m and find the room I’m in right away. I change my name on a regular basis, almost everyday and they still find me. I was wondering if they were finding out who I was from cookies that show my main yahoo ID or could it be from tracing my IP? Is there a way I can mask my IP? Should I delete my main yahoo ID and start over again?

MemberPssst! … dont_squish_me? Your post is kinda a little bit off topic for this particular thread maybe. The following thread is packed with good advice which I think could help you out. https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4081 Perhaps you could benefit from viewing the discussion or add your question there? 😉

Thanx for the tip, Freddy. 😉
I hope that everyone runs AV software, but that iz not enough! AV programs don’t always find trojans. I would suggest “Trojan Remover”. Don’t be fooled by the name, it can scan your whole computer or individual files for trojans. Even before they are opened. Trust me, it is worth checking out! 😀
