ParticipantHey! I thought the part about Google Talk rocked, because of me finding it obviously :p. Ok, but seriously, I liked it. The part about Yahoo PC-Phone thing was a little long, and I found the entire podcast just a bit too long. However, I did like the discussions, and great job Eagle_Kiwi! And Jeff, giving a breif discussion of the multi-network IMs that was pretty good. I have to say, overall, I liked many parts, but a little long, and honestly, some parts parts bored me. (like the Yahoo PC-Phone and towards the end of the multi-network IM’s stuff) 🙁

Memberhey well done again lads, but I have to say it was very long I listened to so much and will listen to the rest later, but that’s the good thing about podcasts!

Participantsounds decent… i was surprised to hear my own voice though (weird sensation). i thought the whole thing was a decent length, 20 minutes is far from being “long” – some podcasts i’ve listened to have gone 2+ hours. i’ll admit, i did start to zone out during parts, mostly because it was just on stuff that doesn’t really apply to me (the WLM discussion – it was good and informative, but i dont use it, so it didn’t matter).
that really can’t be avoided at all though, so it’s not really anything to worry about.i am curious though… what was going on that was causing the occasional buzzing noise? sounded like something with Ian’s connection, maybe?
all in all, good stuff.

MemberHi Tom.
Glad u asked!
The buzz is the sound card in my cheap laptop, that picks up internal interference, especially when the fan runs.
It’s not too bad behind voice, and most times I muted my Skype when not talking – but sometimes I forgot!
Not ideal, but that was all that was available at short notice.I agree the whole format seems a little bit long/boring perhaps – perhaps needs more short music bursts, and more different voices. (nudge, nudge, all 😉 )

i should be available for the next one if you wish… just let me know what topics and what time.

MemberThe length was good, considering, like Tigerblade said, some podcasts can get up to 2 hours in length. If anything, I’d like to see this one get a little longer.
Great co-hosting job, Ian! Aside from the occasional buzzing noise (it really sounded like an old ribbon printer to me :p), you did an excellent job.

KeymasterI actually would prefer if they were about 15 minutes. Honestly those podcasts that go up to 2 hours is because they must have a lot to say about different topics, but when it’s just about instant messaging…it’s a bit boring to go for too long. The voices here are great but it’s still missing the IT factor. I don’t know what it is and I can’t quite put my finger on it. As for more voices, yeah that would be interesting, but I know a particular podcast from another site I visit with just two people, a guy and girl, and they go on for about 50 minutes and I don’t get tired of it. Then again the girl has a cute voice and always does funny noises so it’s appealing…haha. No I’m not saying we need that here but I dno…hmm…just something is missing I think.
*shrugs* Either way a good effort aside from the “buzzing” which to me sounded like a car horn really. heh

ParticipantHeheheh, Ian do people really pronounce that incorrectly!?! I grew up with a fellah named Ian…great guy. Always loved the name.
Anyway, it was great to hear some friendly banter going on between a couple folks! Great great to hear. Really it’s taking leaps and bounds the way it’s sounding.
I noticed the buzzing, but really only when it stopped. Otherwise, it didn’t sound bad other than a bit of hallowness, but really, the accent made up for it *giggles like a little school girl*
I’m actually listening to it as I type so I can give feedback as I think of it *chuckles* Oh my gosh, is there a vaccume? Sorry, new buzzing sound, hehehe. But really I think it gives a great…kind of casual and more interesting vibe with two people talking. Almost like a radio station interview *chuckles*
*still giggling at some of the different terms* Like how you say “ring” instead of “call”. I’m such a nut sometimes, but it gives me a bit of a chuckle.
*perks a grin* Tom! Could you try and sound a bit more bored? *giggle* But I loved the intro music. Great to see a bit of a ‘vacation’ from all the talk talk talk.
*tilt* What happened to Ian? I thought he was co hosting? Did he get lost? Was he in the bathroom? Oh wait there he is! Nevermind, I thought he was getting a bit lost in the mass of Jeffster, heheh.
It tells you how far away they are!?!? Stalkers R Us. *blink* My goodness.
“Get out of the house! The IM is coming from -inside- the house”
In theaters this summer. It is a pain to have to keep the other messengers on your computer when you have trillian…it really really irritates me at times. Though I prefer using trillian since I only need to revert back every so often. It’s worth it in my opinion, at least for my uses.
“Tell your friends about BigBlueBall” <—SHAMELESS PLUG TIME! Must be wrapping up *wink* heheheheh.
It was great to hear other voices, a bit of a chop up of the monotony. It’s growing by leaps and bounds *wink*
And yes yes, I should be available for the next podcast since a certain sweetheart helped me on the whole “I dun have a mic…I suck” ordeal. *wink*
So…yeah okay *drifts off*

MemberAgreed. It NEEDS a bigger variety of voices.
And indeed for even more balance a feminine sound would be very nice too, – IF the world is ready to hear you, Sami ?! 😉Thanks for the great review, BTW. 🙂
April 5, 2006 at 6:34 am #141075RabidKitten
Participant*laughs* I don’t know if the world is ready to hear me. Especially after that explosion of mischief I got into some time ago for my infamous “Sami has a cold and is doped up on nyquil…and has her brothers microphone” bit that went around the IRC chat room for a while. Heheh.
Perhaps a disclaimer is in order *laughs*
