Membersorry to tell you, but why is the whole computer blink when the new YIM loads?
(you see it on desktop main menu, it just blinks.)July 22, 2004 at 1:55 pm #75706Oreo
MemberMine does too. I believe it’s just the nature of the beast. I don’t accept IM’s from people off of my list so unless a buddy sent me something (which is VERY unlikely) it’s not the “magic” program.

MemberWell, let’s see. Eh, my entire desktop does not “blink” as you all put it, but I found out that when I have IE open with a webpage, it will refresh all the images that are TD backgrounds for some reason. Kind of annoying…

MemberJudging by their response I’d say no lol, but if you’re talking to me, no. But, to titansfan, Windows 98 really plugged that feature everywhere, but on XP and such, you have to do a little searching in Display Properties I think it is. Basically, if you have it where you can put HTML in your desktop, it is enabled.

MemberThat’s a good question. I don’t have any English Windows at hand right now, so the things I’m referring to might be called different in your Windows version.
Either way, right click an empty space on your desktop and choose ‘Properties’. Then go to the ‘Background’ tab and chose ‘Customize background’. There you’ll find a tab ‘Website’ with some items listed. If any of these items is checked, then active desktop is enabled.
What active desktop does basically, is allow the displaying of web content on the desktop. This could be a webpage, but it could also be an image that is downloaded from the internet. Now it’s a pretty long shot, but I think Yahoo might cause a refresh of your desktop when it loads.

MemberHm, yeah, it obviously does something. It may because of the new features such as the streaming radio SHOUTcast. I right clicked in that area and viewed the source, it’s all running through a webpage, just embedded into the messenger iface. I will say it is annoying, and I’m not really seeing as to why it would need to refresh everything on first load.
