MemberI have a good friend who has some guy who wont leave her alone. Everytime she ignores him he just creates another screen name somehow. She’s really scared now because he has he home phone # and wont stop calling. If she’s online he’s sending MEAN IM’s and if she’s not online he’s calling her house. Is there a way to block a person’s computer and not just a screen name? And how does he create new ones literally in a matter of seconds? Please someone give her some help… she’s really REALLY Scared…..
Sincerely,
Allen

MemberWell for starters,
She could ignore anyone that is not on her buddy list.
That will keep him from pming her.
As far as the phone calls go, tell her to change her phone number, and have it unlisted.

(yahoo screen name MtnManNC2004)You report the incident to the police. The police give you an incident reference number, you phone Yahoo!, Yahoo! will ask you for a police reference number, you give Yahoo! the police reference number, Yahoo! give you the attackers home address/ip numbers etc.
You go back to the police and press charges against the attacker with the information Yahoo! gave you.

MemberBigAl n3td3v is correct that is one way of doing it.. it does work because a friend of mine went through this as well. Heres the advice they also gave
a) Change number = be more discreet this time or use a cell phone with a different sim because that way you can block them at your own leisure
b) Put yahoo messenger on friends only
now my friend said theres people that she talked to but rather not have on her yahoo friends list so heres what they said
Purchase Y tunnel and by having that you can put them on a friends list and put every one on ignore you can also screen pmers you dont know and choose to disregard or answer the pm.
My friend not only changed her number but bought y tunnel which is 17 bucks for its life time use and now after going thru all that shes feeling at ease and in control of her computer and pms without having that sick feeling.
Y tunnel will block those Pms al and for 17 bucks it’s worth the piece of mind.

A/ you have a court order and has to be sent from the issuing authority
B/ the police have contacted them directly with relevant paperwork attached and claims addressing the complaint signed by a Judge or magistrate with
C/ A Formal request in with all relevant info that is obtained from the ISP of the victim

She is going to change her Cell#, home phone # and has made the needed changes to her Yahoo account. The authorities have been contacted and that’s under way as we speak.
The problem stems from the fact that she never GAVE any of this information to him. My hunch is that he has secretly loaded a key logger onto her system is and tracking her information. I am in the middle of analyzing her system remotely (looking for Trojans & other spyware) and will help her clean her system using HiJackThis and some other tools at my disposal. Thanks for the suggestions and I hope to have GOOD news soon.
Sincerely,
Allen 🙂October 15, 2004 at 9:22 pm #36705Jeff Hester

Different countries have different laws and stuff. The process I described is typical of UK law…
I’m in UK by the way. 😀
Anyways, no matter which legal process of getting IP info and home address or whatever else from Yahoo!, you need to contact the police.
