Buddy Blocked? - BigBlueBall

Hi, I have an ongoing issue.

Occasionally I get blocked by a buddy. But they haven’t really blocked me, nor have I blocked them. I can see they’re online using a different screen name, and they swear they haven’t blocked me. It happens at random times and it’s very frustrating.

Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it??

This has happened to me before as well. Except that it has lasted forever with the same buddy.

Are you fully blocked, or can you just not see them online? If you know they’re online and you send them an IM, do they receive it? I know that sounds dumb, but there are restrictions as to how many simultaneous people can view a screen name as online. The maximum number is HUGE (and I don’t remember what it actually was) which is why it isn’t likely that they’ve maxed out, but it was a thought that crossed my mind, so I’m curious to know.

Hey all- I’ve been having this same problem. Is there anyway to find out which buddies have blocked you (either advertently or not)?

There isn’t any way (that I know of) to check who blocked your screen name. The best thing to do is sign on another screen name and see if the person is online. This isn’t bullet-proof though, because of the AIM setting “block all not on my buddy list” and “allow only the users below”–with that, they may not have you blocked, but just not on their buddy list or allow list.
