Is there any way to track someones online activity on google talk? Such as buddyspy for yahoo?
If they don’t add you and vice versa (mutual friends), there’s no real way to track who’s who on Google Talk (the Jabber (XMPP) protol doesn’t support it). Think about it… would you want someone spying on you whatever you did on Google Talk? I know I wouldn’t! 😉
If they have enabled chat logging in Google Talk, and you know their Gmail password, you can view their chat logs in their Gmail inbox.
But I would be seriously pissed off if someone did that to ME!
So if that’s the case that we mutually added each other on google-talk…is there any way to keep logs on when the person is online?
Yes and no. Google Talk by itself only logs chats between you and the other person, and only if they permit logging.
But, you could use a third-party program like Trillian, which will connect to Google Talk and which allows you to open a connection status window. This window will show all of your contacts, when the log on and off.
OK, thanks 🙂 so this connection status window will keep logs of online-status as well…? As in AIM
It doesn’t automatically keep logs, but you can save them to a file manually. And this should be obvious, but it only tracks status changes as long as YOU are logged in.
Hi again; Trillian doesn’t support Googeltalk, any other third-party program that is compatible w gtalk?
Trillian does support Google Talk; through the Jabber plugin which is for Trillian Pro only. The free one you downloaded is Trillian Basic.
