My girlfriend and I use Y!M to talk for long periods of time … after so long, her button gets stuck to where she cant press it. Once it’s stuck, she cant close out Y!M and has to power off. Is there any way to fix this?
Also, the Y!M audio will sometimes lockup when another program attempts to use her sound card … she has the latest drivers installed already, the only remedy at the Y! help site. The freeze is complete, can’t do anything – no CTRL-ALT-DEL, START MENU, nothing – power off is the only option.
If anyone out there has experience with these problems and can help us fix them (or even make them more bearable), please please please let us know!
Her computer is an HP PAvilion 8650C with a Conexant Riptide Modem/SoundCard combo card. Using Windows 98, this problem has been ongoing for over a year of Yahoo Messenger versions.
why dont u use msn?
as u know yahoo is good for nothingi think her internet speed is too low..
or perhaps “RAM”?
tell her not to run too many programs when using msngrWe tried MSN – upon turning voice on, it trys to adjust the level of my mic and the next thing ya know feedback to all heck. We tried AIM – sound quality sucks. We’ve tried buddyphone … we tried TeamTalk … in fact, we’ve tried at least 2 dozen VoIP proggies and they all suck. Yahoo yeilds the best quality audio and thats what we perfer to use.
Doesnt seem to matter how many programs she has in memory, can happen with only Yahoo in memory. We both have cable modems, at one time she had dialup and it still did the same thing.
I think the locking up has something to do with her soundcard, not sure what causes the button sticking. Maybe RAM – I believe she has 64 Megs – gonna drop a stick of RAM in the mail for her right away. 🙂
