MemberHi: I’ve been using yahoo for a long time now (with cam and mic). Over the past two-three weeks, however, my cam freezes; chat freezes; then my entire computer freezes and I have to reboot. Often, I quickly get booted from the entire thing! I tried MSN IM/ cams work great, but mics don’t. I’ve done the setup wizards six ways to Sunday and nothing helps. Both cam and mic are LogicTech-latest versions. Why is yahoo freezing/booting me? Why can’t MSN mics work? Please help? thank you….sweetpeach

Membersweet, cant help you with msn, but keep in mind that over the last month yahoo has been updating and changing servers. This includes voice chat server, etc. However it could also be something inside your computer clashing with it. If you think back a couple weeks and figure out what you have added to your computer, or any updates done to it, this could be a cause. Questions I would ask are – Do you have a firewall, do you have spyware tool, adware tool, have these been run lately, How many processes do you have running. Do you have any 3rd party applications running (i.e. ytunnel), what have you updated lately, are you on the newest version of messenger? All these questions need to be answer in order to narrow down what the problem could be.

MemberThank you, Netti for the helpful tips; and I’m sorry for asking an MSN ? on Yahoo forum = newbie :o) The only thing I’ve done within the past month is updated Java and updated LinkSys (main router for wireless cable goes through a desktop to my laptop). I did read the recent news about Yahoo making changes; and will be patient and wait to see if that may be the answer. I don’t think updating java or linksys would do this; and I don’t run adwares; firewalls or spyware. I appreciate your help, Netti – thank you again.
