ParticipantGood Evening Guys!!;)
i get a fake email about my friend, not only my friend, there are some more ID’s who mentioned as Cyber Chatters, i wonder to see some conversations of my friend, am sure that my friend wont chat in such ways,
but i dont have choice to belive it or not,, My doubt is : Does yahoo can record a Pm conversation of any chat users? am not sure in that, so if i report Yahoo Abuse or if i forward that mail to Yahoo, will they identify the person who sends this e-mail? Like who is he, where he is from, from where he sends this e-mail, what all Id’s he have in Yahoo, will yahoo take action on this person?
Note: The Mail i recived seems to be like a Yahoo E-mail, mail sender id calls “Message Board”
any suggestion please?:)

I am also not that certain but I doubt Yahoo! will keep thousands of PM conversations from its users, because it would definitely need huge storage space.so if i report Yahoo Abuse or if i forward that mail to Yahoo, will they identify the person who sends this e-mail? This is a good thing to do, Yahoo! of course can trace where this email comes from but of course you can’t be certain if the sender of this email created the account he/she used with false informations. Also, privacy issue might get in the way.
will yahoo take action on this person?
Only Yahoo! can tell.
The best thing to do, if your suspicious of the email, you can, report to Yahoo! or you can report it as spam so that account cant send you mails in the future.
Also, you can directly contact your friend to ask him/her personally about the matter.October 14, 2005 at 5:01 am #131750stupidisasstupiddoes
MemberYahoo doesn’t keep track of PM’s unless it has a specific reason to do so, such as a court order or some other law enforcement reason. It would take up unreal amounts of storage to save all that information.
You can fill out an Abuse Report and forward the email with the full header that shows the IP address of where the email originated from. The email address may be spoofed but it is impossible to spoof the IP address, but it may just be a proxy server or a zombie computer that is being remotely controlled. But it doesn’t hurt to file a complaint. But most likely Yahoo won’t do anything unless they are trying to send you a virus or email bombing you. Yahoo doesn’t get involved in petty complaints, they rely on automated server rules to take appropriate actions. There is just too much going on for a small staff of administrators to handle personally. You have to remember this is a free service.
Save the time and effort and block emails from that account, that is pretty much the answer you are going to get from the automated response you are going to recieve when you submit a complaint.
