ParticipantWell, perhaps you can! If you have an alternate login available (easy enough to create if you don’t) you can add yourself (ID you suspect is being used) to the contact list.
If you have WLM Plus installed, and someone uses your account logging in as VISIBLE then you can view the last known logon from the contact information in WLM Plus. Obviously, if the person logs on as INVISIBLE there would be no way to track anything.
This only works if you are logged into the alternate ID when this person logs on. So in essence, you need to have a computer you could leave WLM open on until you find out what you want to know, or find it isn’t being used.
Or, if you have a computer you can leave the ID in question running on, and someone logs in from another computer – a msg window will pop up to that effect. But I’m not really sure if it stays there until you click it or if it just goes away after a certain time. I’m thinking it stays until you close it. Then you’d also know someone else logged in but not the time just that it happened.
Good luck figuring it out!

ParticipantI don’t know of any way to trace the IP of who’s logging in under a particular ID. I have ideas but they are really long shots, and dependent upon several uncontrollable variables.
First, remember, if you have a hotmal email address, this person is likely getting into your emails. You could see if there are any sent mails that you didn’t do. If so – there are probably details on the IP in the properties and you could do a search on that IP address, but that’s only gonna narrow down not give you a particular person. Unless you’re email is NOT hotmail, and you’ve NOT configured to be able to check it from WLM I would strongly recommend immediately changing your password. Now, if it’s not hotmail, and you’ve not configured to check it, and you still want another possible long shot….
Have you set up Windows Live Spaces? If so, that person can also access your spaces page. There is Tracking HTML code available at Hitmapper.com that you can embed (invisibly) on your webpage that will also track the IP of people who visit it and map them. Although, I must say it shows mine as being a bit off from where I really am. However, IF the person accesses it you would likely be able to gain a little info. Once again, remember if they can get to it – they can change it as well with your login info so once again I caution changing it might be the best option. And they may not bother to go there either.
You could also have an alternate ID, add it yourself to the ID you normally use, then login on the alternate one and wait till the person logs in, and try inviting them to chat and see what happens. Perhaps something in what or how they say it will give you a clue. Or if you can get them to email you something you then have their IP but nothing more. If they’re really brave….you could call the computer when they log on and see if they will answer the call…..voice would likely tell the entire story if it’s a friend. But I would assume even the dumbest of hackers wouldn’t be stupid enough to answer a call on someone else’s ID. Never know though.
I’m sure it’s bugging the heck out of you, and you seem less concerned about the security issues surrounding it than just finding out who it is. But if you’re like a lot of people the password for WLM is possibly the same as that you use for other sites and THAT could be of major concern. I wish you luck with finding the answers — but again strongly caution you that changing your password is the safest option, tho it may mean you never find a clue about who is doing it.
Good Luck….and if you find out using one of these ways I’d appreciate knowing which one worked….just fer MY own curiousity.

MemberThanks for taking so much time to write a long reply !!
I really think the best thing I can do is change all my passwords. As I said Im fairly sure it wasnt a malicious hack just a mate messing around which is why Im not worried but Ill spoil their fun ! It just would have been really cool to find out who it was and let them know I sussed them out !
I guess the MSN servers or so know who logs in our accounts but they have better things to do than search the info and they would say ..change pass words etc
Again thanks ! Ill maybe have a try with your sugestions first !

ParticipantNo problem Willo! I agree changing your passwords is probably the best course of action at this point. I’d also suggest a complete virus and spyware scan on the off chance it’s someone other than who you might suspect. Best of luck.
