MemberI would like to know if the latest Trillian can be used on a private network (i.e. home or office)? I am trying to find out if I can setup a Trillian server exclusivley to work in a private network (home or office) cut off form the outside world. Or, maybe I can set it up to control who has access in or outside of the private network. Any help would be appriciated.

MemberIf you buy the Pro version of Trillian, it comes with a plugin called “Rendezvous”, which is basically chatting over a LAN (no internet connection required). Other than that, Trillian depends on the chat servers to grab online info, etc. so there would be no other way to have an “offline” Trillian unless you used Rendezvous.

KeymasterRendezvous works nicely, too. It automatically sniffs out other Trillian users on your network and adds them to your contact list. Kinda spooky!

It’s weird for me to see people pop-up on my list at work (where we aren’t supposed to be running Trillian anyway).October 12, 2005 at 12:31 pm #131668auctionhugh
ParticipantThis might be a help. At our office, I’ve installed Tonic instant messenger on about 50 PCs and everyone loves it. Not quite as full featured as AIM or Trillian, but does the job!
More info and a download here: http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?page=2&show=tonic

Hope this is helpful to some folks out there!
