MemberHello,
Just found this website and see that one of your specialties is IM problems:) Well, that’s good because that’s just the type of problem I’m having.
I’m using a new Dell 8400 (purchased January of this year) using the MS XP w/Media experience OS.
I had no problems with the original YIM (don’t remember the version), but as soon as I downloaded the “new improved” version with voice I’ve never been able to connect to the server. Have contacted YAHOO’s support desk numerous times and have received nothing but their standard canned answers. Have tried all of their fixes, and have still not gotten this thing to connect.
Tried changing the connection settings (Noproxies, Use proxies, etc.), as YAHOO suggested, with no success; have uninstalled & re-installed the application numerous times with the same results: “unable to connect to the
server”. In addition, the Yahoo! Messenger Preferences drop down is all
ghosted, with the exception of the “connection radio buttons: unable to “
change Internet connection from the defaulted Dial-Up (I have DSL), nor am
I able to input my home country which is blank. My YPAGER NOTEPAD shows the following error message: “Failed on HttpSendRequest, restart. The error code is 10107”
I’ve tried turning off all my security (Firewalls, virus protection, etc.) and everything else I could think of that might cause this problem.
I use ICQ, AIM & MSN’s Messenger with no similar problems and therefore can’t understand what it is about YAHOO that is causing this problem.
Didn’t mean to be so long-winded but wanted to provide you with all the info you’d need to address the problem the 1st time.
I found several similar issues in your archives but nothing quite like this one. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
thanks again,

MemberHey snooker, thanks for the suggestion, but I’ve already tried that & all the other available preference settings as well; wish it were that simple, but nothing seems to work.
thanks for trying, Steve

Your winsock2 might be corrupted.Download the WinSock XP Fix at
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html reboot,and see if that helps. -
