I cannot log into AIM with any of my screen names. It will only go as far as to say ‘Verifying screenname and password.” After about 30 seconds it says that AIM Service Cannot be Reached. None of my names will work. I even got a new name and that one won’t work. Funny thing is, I put my mom’s name in and it worked, but now that doesn’t work very often either. I downloaded Trillian and it won’t let me use me AIM names either. I tried that download that supposedly fixes AIM viruses. Does anyone know what could be wrong? It’s really starting to frustrate me. I hope someone can help.
Some stuff I forgot, I went on my mom’s computer and my screen names wouldn’t work on her computer either, but yet she can log in with her name. Also, I am running AIM 5.9.3861. Basically, it doesn’t seem like a software problem. It seems to be something with all my names.
Try going to Setup > the Sign On/Off tab > Connection > and in the “Host” box, replace login.oscar.aol.com with bucp2-vip-m.blue.aol.com
I’m having the same problems and its really frustrating as well. Yesterday everything was working fine and now I can’t log into my aim with my current username. I tried my other username and it works.
AIM is such a pain in the neck, I’ve just about had it with this program.
My roommate is having the same problem. Is it something that AOL is doing? She says that all of her other AIM screen names work, and usually she has them all linked, and it’s not even linking her main screen name. Any news on how to fix this?
None of my screenames work. I finally got one to work, but it only worked for one day and then it stopped working. They won’t even work with Trillian. I have no clue what is wrong. I tried changing the connection as suggested, but that didn’t work either.
Well I got my username to work. But when sending a file to another user on my list, the transfer rate is extremely slow. I use to spend at avg 85-90 kbps now its at 16kbps or even lower! All of this started happening as soon as my Aim starting acting funny.
I don’t know what have I done wrong, I haven’t browsed into any websites that dangerous to my comp nor have I downloaded anything hazardous. I want my Aim transfer speeds back to normal.
