MemberYou need to be a lil more specific with your problem, is it just one id that doesn’t login to messenger or any id. It could be a dozen different things why it won’t work. Lose the CAPS lol. What was changed on the computers? Maybe your work doesn’t want you on yahoo, so you can be doing your job instead.

MemberI don’t know what kind of company you work for, but if it is large and security conscious you probably have a fire wall. Try going to your messenger box, go to log in, preferences, connection and try the different settings there. I use firewall with no proxies and that works for me. Good luck.

MemberI came across this post whilst desperately searching for something to explain why I can’t log on to Yahoo. After using the program daily I suddenly found that I couldn’t log on. It keeps asking me to try again. I’ve done everything suggested regarding connection including using proxies. I’ve changed my password twice and uninstalled (manually removing remaining files) and reinstalled the Yahoo! Msger program 4 times now. I still can’t log on. I can, however log on using my sister’s ID and password. So it seems the problem is with my individual ID and password. I emailed Yahoo! and they sent me a lame automatic response regarding being unable to connect telling me I should do all the things I had told them I’d done in my original email. Can someone help? I don’t want to change my ID…
Thank you.July 3, 2003 at 10:57 pm #61306grandmacujo
MemberLady,
I just went through the same thing with my messenger. My Main I.D. would not log in but, I could log in under a different I.D.
Uninstall/install did not work. I had to contact YAHOO (yet again!) and they cleared the problem within 2 days.
According to YAHOO there is some sort of progblem with the New Messenger Version, the Security Update and Explorer. When I recieved a YAHOO mail alert!….I clicked YES and Explorer took me to YAHOO mail.
After that, I was unable to access my Messenger. Yahoo’s explaination was that I had logged in to retrieve my mail with one I.D. and had messenger going with another I.D. and that caused some sort of error to occur……..
I don’t understand it all….but, that’s what I was told and they did correct the problem within 2 days.

MemberGrandmacujo,
Thank you so much for your response. I’m just about tearing my hair out here. May I ask how you contacted Yahoo? Was it the form page at their site or was it via an email address? After their last response I’m not particularly encouraged and don’t know how to contact someone who will actually do something about it and not just send another automated response.
It all seems very complex, doesn’t it. I don’t actually have a Yahoo mail account and I only have one ID, so I wonder what their explanation for my problem will be. To be honest, I don’t care. I just want it fixed!!!!
Thanks again,

MemberAm I confused or what? You say “It all seems very complex, doesn’t it. I don’t actually have a Yahoo mail account”…..of course you have a yahoo mail account. You signed up for that first didn’t you?

MemberActually no, I never activated it. I just downloaded msger a few years back and created an ID.
