Ok, I’ve been working with a support analyst over some problems on my computer. ( NO laughing ) but I’ve talked to many and NONE of them can help me locate or tell me the exact brand of my cdwriter/dvd player or what is the brand name of my video card and how much more I can add?
I went to my computer, properties, hardware, device manager, DVD/CDROM drives… and all it says is COMBI RWX10/DVD we then ran a diagnostic check on the video and all it says is ( Intel ( R) 82845/GL Graphics controller and the bios says there is an onboard memory of 1 MB .
We’ve searched and searched and short of tearing it apart or trial and error buying incompatible parts. Could anyone help me or lead me in the right direction to locate the names of these?
Thanks in advance,
Carrie
I think you have an integrated graphics card. If you go to start–>run, type in dxdiag–>display tab, it will tell you the graphics card you have and your directX version (though you probably aren’t interested in that). If it says Intel something, my bet would be that you have an onboard card.
I can’t help with the CD-drive thing though. Sorry.
Yeah thats pretty much the same video card I have, it is intregrated (I need to get a new one…) anyway about the memory it depends on your RAM, I was on Intel’s site and I was talking to a live rep. and they said the more RAM you have the more video RAM you will have, I have 512 RAM so it said I have 128 mb video memory ( I think you I asked something about video memory, if not then desregard this)
Hurricane, You are right. It is an intergrated graphics card.
Milton, I just upgraded to 512 Ram.. until a few days ago I had 256 Ram.
Thanks for the help you two .
Carrie
