Well, you need pretty good knowledge on how Yahoo does things to even begin to do it. Then you need to select a programming language to do it (Personally, I’d suggest Delphi).

Learn a Computer language

Learn the YMSG protocol

First you need ask yourself, is making chat client worth for your time that gonna wasted ?.
