Clix, the largest Internet Service Provider in Portugal, will offer an innovative Jabber-based real-time messaging and presence service provided by Antepo and Jabber.
Lisboa, Portugal, New York, NY and Denver, CO – October 25, 2001. – Antepo, Inc. and Jabber, Inc., the leading providers of carrier-grade wireless and wireline Presence and Communications solutions, announces the licensing of their multi-access Instant Messaging platform by Clix. Clix will enable its 1 million Portuguese customers to use the multiple access channels (Desktop, WAP, SMS, J2ME) to instantly exchange text messages, audio files and presence information.
“We have chosen the Antepo-Jabber technology because it is an open and scalable platform, capable of interacting with other popular IM services such as MSN, Yahoo or ICQ,” Pedro Pina, CEO of Clix says. “We were looking for a solution bridging multiple devices while ensuring seamless end-to-end communication among users; Antepo and Jabber had the best fit with our expectations.”
The branded IM service will strengthen ClixŒs dominance in Portugal and favorably position its portal on the fast-growing segment of multi-access communication. Consumers have embraced services such as AOL Instant Messenger, MSN and Yahoo!, sending an estimated 900 million instant messages a day in 2000. Use is expected to grow to 7 billion messages a day by 2004 (IDC).
