MemberHi,
I have no idea about that chatting stuff. So I hope someone could help.
My question:
My friend has a mac and uses iChat. I have Windows XP and can use msn, aim, icq or also yahoo messenger. Is there any way we can chat? I mean, there is no iChat for windows:( , but maybe I can reach him with one of the programs above? He has really only iChat. Thanks for help.

ParticipantI believe iChat is compatible with AIM, but video and chat conferencing may not be.

And what have I to do to make it work? Normal chat functions would be already enough.February 25, 2005 at 10:20 pm #115622Anonymous
ParticipantiChat is basically the same thing as AIM. That is what I use. If they have a @mac.com name, just add that into your aim list for instance mine is zargeus@mac.com that would be thier aim username. If they dont have the @mac.com then just add them like any other username.

MemberYahoo! works also between mac’s and PC’s as well if you want things like cams and voice. My inlaws have a Mac and when we want to show them how we are looking we have my brother-in-law sign into Yahoo! (he normally uses MSN messenger and they really are not nice to Mac users!).

Thanks again. I tried it with your email in my AIM and I could see you instantly. Do you use iChat? Have I got you right in that? Or do you use AIM on MAC? Cos my friend has still problems. He seems not be able to see me and reverse the same.:( I know I’m a super dau. (And I guess he too;) )

MemberTo get AIM & iChat working together nicely, make sure you have the latest versions of each installed.
Yahoo is not compatible for voice chat between Mac & PC. Yahoo uses a proprietary non-standard codec that only runs on X86 based machines called TrueSpeech. You can do cams, IMs, and typed chat between the two…but no audio chat.
