ParticipantThis is my first ever forum experience! I need help! I use msn im (7.0 or 7.5) and had a very freaky thing happen this morning. my one and only contact appeared to have signed on and then changed his display picture. neither of us made contact. he appeared to stay online for approx 30 min then sign off. The freaky thing is that when we actually connected several hours later, he said he WAS NEVER SIGNED ON NOR HAD HE CHANGED HIS DISPLAY PICTURE!! He has no explanation for how this happened as no one has his password etc. Does anyone have an explanation? He is panicked. is it possible it was some bug or fluke? Thanks…….

MemberWhen his pictured changed, was it still a picture of him? And when he came back later and you two talked, was the picture still changed?

Participanthow great to have a response. both display pics are the ‘canned’ msn pics….typical one is the beach chairs, the changed one was the palm trees. when he signed on later and we actually ‘spoke’ it was his usual beach chairs. i hope you have the answer! thanks!

MemberAyejay,
Realistically, I think there are a lot of things you need to eliminate/question before you conclude its an MSN bug problem. MSN is famous for logging you on automatically when you start up your computer, perhaps thats all it was, and he didn’t know it, or someone else with access to his computer used it for a few minutes and MSN messenger was called up. Maybe he didn’t want to admit he was on line and your question forced him to create a lie? But if you get my point…there are so may possibilities and I really don’t see any pointing immediately to an MSN Messenger bug. Sorry.March 17, 2006 at 9:28 pm #140299VeryBoredMale
Memberunfortunately, auto logon isn’t going to change your photo and log you off in 30 minutes…. that usually requires some intervention…. or magic

Participantwell thank you to you both, i appreciate your time and expetise. fancy, i feel you are a bit defensive here …. i was just throwing that possiblity out there…obviously i have no clue what the prob is. i just wondered if, as happens so often, there is a well known issue/bug that i had’t heard about. any other ideas are greatly appreciated. thanks to you both.
