Hello, there is someone on my buddy list that I dont want to delete by now but I dont want to see his name on my list. Is there a way to hide it without deleting it? Thanks a lot.

Create a group with similar contacts, move them to that group and collapse the view. You would’nt see the contact unless you expand the view for that group 😉

Ive tried it and it is already done, but I was thinking if there would be a more effective way to make the name of the person really invisible to me without deleting it until I decide to bring it on to my view again. Is that possible?

Depends on what you mean by hiding the name…

Choose the person, right click and go to Contact details… under the nickname field, delete anything that is there. Then hold your alt key down and type 0160 using the numeric keypad on the right side of your keyboard. This alt code is for a blank space. The contact will still be on your list, you will still see the icon next to the name, but that’s all, no name there. See attached pic.

That’s the only other way to hide a contact’s name other than placing them into a new group.

Type 1060 to where? I press ATL and type 1060 into the contact details…nothing happened. I did something wrong. Pls. advise me.

Moreover, if i want to see the nick again, what should i do?

To undo it I guess you’ll have to save the nickname to notepad or some text file before you decide to use the above 0160 method and then paste the nickname back in there and save it again.There might be another way of doing it but I don’t know of any.

Delete whatevers in nickname box – hold alt and using the keypad(located to the far right of your keyboard)type 0160 and release alt,then click save & close,should work,thats how I do it.
