MemberAlright, everyone
I’ve got this problem with my contact list… Recently, I’ve decided to ‘clean it up’ and delete some of those contacts who haven’t showed up for the last month or so… and then I noticed somethin strange, a contact had been deleted from the list, and I saw them online the night before… My question is: is there a tool or a program that allows you to delete your MSN address from someone’s contact list? I am positive that they didn’t get in my account…. Someone told me there was a program, but they dnt remember what it is 🙁 Thanx 4 your help

ParticipantUm, hi. There is no such program that allows you to gain access to another’s account. Possibly you deleted them by accident – deleted them instead of the person above or below them 😉

Memberdetn8r,
I know there’s no such program allowing you to gain access to someone’s account, but I know there’s one that can remove your own MSN address from their list so they cant see you but you can still see them….. It’s happened three times now, and my friend still cnt remember the name of that program/or he doesnt want to tell me. Does anybody knows what it’s called?
And nah, I noticed their ‘disappearance’ before I could even delete anyone 😉

Member?? What? I dont want to invade anyone’s privacy!!
I just want to know the answer to this…. sorry if I went against the rules, but this is getting annoying and scary to not know how 3 contacts have disappeared without me deleting them
could someone suggest what could have happened… and no, I didn’t delete them by mistakeDecember 21, 2004 at 7:52 pm #108716mecal
MemberHey, I just had to reply because the same thing has happened to me today and a while ago.
I look at my messenger everyday and you gets use to seeing a certain number of people in a category… atleast I do. about a month ago I noticed that something didnt seem right about my “friend” category. I relized that a friend’s email was removed. He had not signed on in a LONG while… I second guessed myself and figured I may have removed him because he hadn’t signed in for a while…
But then today I sign on and now my family list seems wrong. My sister’s email has dropped off the list. She also has not signed into messenger for a long while, but I would never remove her email address.
This let me to search google and find this topic. Also, even when you remove a contact, if you go to options and then privacy, you can see every contact you have ever added and if you blocked them, you can see that too. However, my sister’s email is in neither list. It’s like it just disappeared.

MemberRenZ, don’t worry, you haven’t broken any of the forum rules.
I’ve got to agree with detn8r on that, accidently deleting them does seem the only logical thing.
It’s a long shot, but have you recently scanned your system for viruses and spyware, and other such parasites? If not, I would advise doing so.
Good luck.

MemberSorry about the misunderstanding of your request RenZ, rather embarassing actually. I guess it pays to re-read the post more than once:eek:. MartinBradley is absolutely right, you have not violated any of the forum policies. Please disregard my previous post in this thread. 😀

MemberHi, its me again. I was doing some testing to find out the possible causes of accounts disappearing.
I recently noticed that I could not log into an old hotmail account of mine. However, I was able to reregister the same email as if it never existed. This means that msn/hotmail is now completely exipring and deleting accounts. Must has to be somewhat resent, past 3 months maybe.
Anyways, So I reregister the account and add my current account to the contact list and accepted it in my current account. Being signed in to two messenger at the same time (MSN 7Beta and Windows Messenger), I made a display name that shows now on my current contact list. Since now accounts can expire, accounts can also be manually deleted at hotmail.com. When I manually deleted the old account, the display name on my current account defaulted back to the email address.
So the account is pending official MSN deletion so it only shows the email on my contact list. If manually deleting an account causes the display name to default on everyone who has that person added, then maybe once it is official deleted my MSN then the account would be removed from the contact list of everyone as well.
I don’t know when they run the process to officially delete the manually deleted address but hopefully it is nightly and then I can give an update on whether the whole contact disappeared or not.

MemberJust recieve an email from MSN Tech Support confirming my suspicions:
“A free Hotmail account becomes inactive if you do not sign in for 30 days, or within the first 10 days after signing up for an account. Once an account becomes inactive, all messages, folders, and contacts are deleted, but the account name is still reserved. If the account stays inactive for a further 90 days, it is permanently deleted. This means that it is erased completely from all MSN Services including contact lists that it may appear on.” -
