ParticipantThe official new version will be out when its actually hosted on the Microsoft MSN Messenger site. FYI – Beta’s generally have bugs and are unfinished software. Also worth noting is the fact that 6.1 is not compatable with MsgPlus!.

KeymasterAs shifter noted, this is not an official beta; Microsoft releases beta products through their http://www.betaplace.com web site, or if it’s a public beta, they call it a preview and make it available one of their own sites. Use at your own risk!
Addendum
I downloaded that other link, but couldn’t get it to install on my Windows XP Pro computer. I did find another link, thanks to Timothy at http://www.mess.beThis one worked! >> MSN Messenger 6.1.0114 Beta Mirror

ParticipantThe only “differences” that I have seen, is new pop up, and your able to get rid of the top task bar, and change the color of the backround. As for settings etc, havent seen anything changed or different.

MemberWhat’s different in the pop-up? I haven’t noticed any change since I installed the beta…
One thing I don’t like about the custom colors: they turn out way lighter than what you choose. Getting a dark chat window by setting a dark color is impossible…

MemberThere’s an update for Messenger Plus! that should work with the 6.1 beta too: http://www.msgplus.net/index.php?view=download
Also see http://www.msgplus.net/index.php?view=news#4926326015 for the official “news” item about it on msgplus.netOff to give it a try…

ParticipantMsgPlus is the official site, and releaser of the program. PlusLite is only a alternate support site, where you can download programs, and add ons for MSN aswell.
Frutzle, did you miss my post? I had it already listed. 😉

ParticipantPatchou just released another update for Messenger 6.1. Thhis version fixes some bugs that it had, and has full capability with 6.1.
Here is a full quote of updates:Quote:quote:2.21.55 Version – 09/09/2003The 3rd Boss Protect setting is now loaded correctly when Messenger Plus! starts.
Custom Name feature improved for MSN Messenger 6.1. This new version of Messenger displays contact emails instead of their names by default in the chat. It’s now replaced by the real name of the contact (as Messenger 6.0 did).
New Custom Name option available with MSN Messenger 6.1. You can select a “grey check” (or “square check” if you’re using Windows XP) when you enable Custom Names. Doing so will force the custom name to be displayed in the chat window.
Important bugs have been fixed concerning the use of “/me” tags in a contact name.
The Share Files feature is now working fine in MSN Messenger 6.1.You can more easily use the /run command with command line parameters now.
The roll eye emoticon has been added to the Quick Icon panel.
The Quick Text have been improved. You can now specify up to 20 different text or commands. To do so, simply create a new line and start it with the ‘#’ character. This can be used to quickly chain several operations. Advanced users can even specify the delay between operations: after the ‘#’, specify a digit between 1 and 9 (seconds) and put another ‘#’. If you don’t specify a delay, the default is 0.5 seconds.
Example 1:
#Look at my new name!
#/nick SuperName
#do you like it?Example 2:
#In 5 seconds I’ll check your web site
#5#/run http://www.msgplus.netPlugins that return text in ParseCommand() and ReceiveNotify() can use the same mechanism described above for Quick Texts to chain different actions.
