MemberSo far, from what I have seen, this emotepad would be much easier to use and have downloaded it. Just when I got the hang of editing the hard way hahaha
A couple questions if I may …. am currently using another emotepad for editing .. would I have to delete it or replace it with this one? I experimented with this emotepad already but not sure where those experiments went and when I popped into a room to check them, they were nowhere to be found.
Also, once you make an emote with this emotepad, should the list of ones you have made stay on the left side for easy reference and editing ??I also use yahoo messenger version 7.0.2.120 if that matters.
And I do apologize if this has been asked already. Didn’t find it.
Thanks so much

MemberQuote:“am currently using another emotepad for editing .. would I have to delete it or replace it with this one?”You shouldn’t have to delete or replace the other program. If you have “another emotepad” installed, there is a chance that installing a second program of the same name may overwrite some of the first program. To keep that from happening, make sure the second program you install, does not install in the same folder as the first. EmotePad installs in the “C:Program FilesEmotePad” folder. If you already have “another emotepad” installed in that location, you can direct EmotePad to install in a different folder during SetUp. EmotePad should work fine no matter what folder you install it in.
Quote:“I experimented with this emotepad already but not sure where those experiments went and when I popped into a room to check them, they were nowhere to be found.”Yahoo! Messenger Version 7 has two (2) files where emotes are saved. One is “emote.dat” and the other is “emote_user.dat”. Messenger will ONLY list the emotes in these two (2) files. The default location for these files is in the C:Program FilesYahoo!Messenger folder on your pc. You can open and edit either of these two (2) files with EmotePad. Once you are done editing, simply save the file. Go into a chat-room, and select the “Emotions List” option from the “View” menu. The new/edited emotes should appear in the list. (NOTE: You cannot simply jump from one chat-room to another and see the edited changes in Messenger. If you have a chat-room window open when you edit/save the file, close the chat-room window after you save and then join a chat-room. You should see the newly edited emotes.)
Quote:“Also, once you make an emote with this emotepad, should the list of ones you have made stay on the left side for easy reference and editing ??”Any emote you create/edit/import should be in the list with all the other emotes in that file. To add a new emote to the currently opened emote file, select “New Emote” from the “Emote” menu. EmotePad will add a new emote to the list on the left. The new emote’s name defaults to “New Emote”.
Remember to save the emote file. If you do not save the file, any/all changes made to the emote file during that session will be aborted.

MemberExcellent work EmotePad !!!! I really liked the tutorial pages. Especially the one about the tags and putting the emotes into a PM box. Worked like a charm.
Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to this.
Also, thank you for your advice. Got everything up and running the way you said it would.

3. Added an emote Preview. The new Preview will display your emote, complete with animated emoticons.
4. Updated help files. You’ll have to look in the posts above to find the link to the EmotePad website.
😮 (I’m still a junior member here and cannot post a URL. Funny though… I used to be able to post URLs, and I can edit the URLs in previous posts.)
