Building on its history of innovation and leadership in the area of enterprise-class real-time messaging solutions, FaceTime Communications, the leading provider of network-independent enterprise solutions for the management and control of instant messaging (IM), today announced that America Online, Inc. has selected the company to provide its award winning IM Director development platform as embedded technology for the AOL® Instant Messenger™ (AIM) Enterprise Gateway solution. Deployed behind a companys firewall, the AIM Enterprise Gateway brings a new level of control and security to instant messaging in the workplace, while continuing to provide organizations with access to the largest and most active instant messaging community in the world via the AIM service on the desktop.
FaceTime pioneered the concept of building value-add enterprise solutions for instant messaging networks. As a technology supplier to America Online, FaceTime builds further upon its position as a leading provider of core technologies and applications that enable enterprises to harness the reach and power of the largest instant messaging network in the world. FaceTime will continue to deliver authorized AIM solutions for call centers, eCRM, helpdesk, presence-based community portals and regulatory compliance.
The AIM Enterprise Gateway acts as a proxy between users inside the corporate firewall and those on the public AIM network, and enables enterprises to determine how they want to control access, routing and permissions. It also makes it possible to monitor instant messaging usage for legal, regulatory and accounting compliance by logging, auditing and creating reports on all AIM communications.
Glen D. Vondrick, FaceTime President and CEO said, “As a technology platform provider for America Online and the AIM Enterprise Gateway, FaceTime is proud to demonstrate our continued technology leadership by extending the power of the AIM network to millions of business users enabling them to increase the value and manageability of AIM for enterprises.”
“FaceTime Communications is a leading provider of IM applications and enterprise IM technology servers for businesses. FaceTimes deep experience in a wide range of enterprise IM applications and technical expertise make FaceTime a solid technology partner for the AOL AIM Enterprise Gateway”, said Bruce Stewart, Senior Vice President of AOL Strategic Business Solutions.
“By 2006, more than 200 million corporate employees worldwide will be using instant messaging,” said Robert Mahowald, research manager at IDC. “FaceTimes partnership with AOL further strengthens FaceTimes positioning as a leading supplier in the emerging market for enterprise IM applications.”
“We are excited about AOL’s decision to enter the enterprise market with FaceTime’s core technology platform as the basis for their offerings,” said James Ford, VP Engineering and Operations, Thomas Weisel Partners. “From the beginning, FaceTime’s IM application integrated seamlessly into our systems and now with the addition of the AIM Enterprise Gateway we look forward to leveraging our investments even further by partnering with these innovators.”
FaceTimes unique technology advantage, IM expertise, and ability to provide customers with authorized application access enables the company to deliver practical, value-add server solutions for any business. FaceTimes IM solutions are installed behind corporate firewalls and allow IT administrative controls to control access, and manage instant messaging with features such as capturing, recording, and reporting conversations in the enterprise. Ease of installation and configuration, lack of changes in behavior for AIM users; Web-based reports; and support for existing corporate proxy servers are key benefits of FaceTimes IM solutions.
