ParticipantHow can you get better than Trillian? It’s a sleek GUI and can interface will all the big protocols. What more could you ask for?

MemberYou can’t beat Trillian. Like David said, a great GUI, great plugins and skins and a gret community.

ParticipantWith the release of MSN Messenger 6, and Plus! 2 how can you go wrong?
January 4, 2004 at 2:58 am #51659lazyturbo
MemberI voted for ICQ. Trillian is prolly the best out of all of them, but ICQ was out before the others and I’ve just gotten used to it over these years, and I’m a loyal user….so I stick to it and have it on all the time.
I use Trillian to connect to everything else (Yahoo, MSN, AIM).

WoW!
I guess ignorance truly is bliss?
How can AIM really be your favorite?
- The default AIM sounds are horrible
- Warnings – The worst feature of AIM, don’t get me started
- Rate limit
- It has AUDIO ADS; don’t those drive you people insane?
- The buddy-list window is full of crap (And hey theres even more coming your way in 5.5!)
- You can’t see who is on your list
- The spam is horrible
- The entire AIM client is buggy
- It’s made by AOHELL
- There are POPUPs in it now!?!
I could go on for days.
Oh great, now that I typed that out I see the Subject title is Favorite IM of 2003 and the Poll Question is What instant messenger did you use the most in 2003?
Oh well…

KeymasterDave, the assumption is that you’ll use your favorite. Obviously there are some flaws in that assumption, but I wanted to know what people actually used most often.

MemberYaaaay! They put iChat in the poll!

MemberAIM for me is my favorite, most users, smallest IM box, pop up notifications now with 5.5. I don’t know I just like that the best. (yahoo is better for webcamming though because of the bigger box)
January 8, 2004 at 7:11 pm #51649KPK102
MemberAlso, AIM you can have profiles, better away messages, chatting box is bigger and better…
Also, easier to see pictures and files that are sent over direct connection. MSN you have to click, save and open them. AIM you can just view them without saving it to your computer!

ParticipantI regularly use MSN 6.1, but it oftern “dies” on me, but I prefer Yahoo! Messenger because of the better Web Cam picture-MSN (6.1) webcam window is tiny and a joke!

You could say I almost hate AIM, but the fact is users. More of my friends use AIM than any other client and that goes for alot of people. I would prefere MSN messenger over any of them but not enough people i know use it.
