I’d like to pose a question to BigBlueBall forum users that I’ve been wanting to ask a group of savvy IM users for quite some time.
Isn’t it high time that AIM gets rid of the “Send IM Greeting” feature?
You all know what I’m talking about – that pesky button located in between the Direct Connect and Emoticon buttons on the middle toolbar inside the conversation window. That button you always hit by mistake when you’re really trying to Direct Connect or use an emoticon, and are subsequently forced to wait for 05 seconds as your browser launches the IM greeting website. For years, this seemingly useless and pointless feature has plauged me and my friends due to its placement between two very commonly used parts of AIM, and I was wondering how everyone else feels about the feature and whether or not any of you would support the feature being removed in future AIM releases.
I completley agree, the button has been the cause of much AIM angst over the years. To boot: I’ve never seen a single person ever actually use the damn thing! Go figure..
someone should make a program that gets rid of it or something
its in AimRes.dll
String Table 113 > Line 1800-1801
change both lines to
1800, “aim:”
1801, “aim:”
when you click it, it wont do anything.
your welcome.
Thanks for the fix!
