KeymasterQuote:quote:Be the first to own a unique humanErr, aren’t clones supposed to be exact copies??
So a clone cannot be unique 🙂January 5, 2003 at 6:15 am #98834rustedtight
MemberShould we dispense with the word ‘lonely’ simply because there is more than one being on this planet?
Being the only clone, it is unique.

ParticipantWasn’t Eve born last December? I’m pretty sure she was. I remember reading about it the day the news was released. Eve’s parents have refused to go on with DNA testing so we actually don’t know if she’s an exact replicate of her mother.
Eve is no longer the only “supposed” clone alive. Clonaid released more today. I’m just not buying it without any DNA testing being done.Clonaid – housing earth’s unwanted emo children since 1997.

Chilling. From another point of view……. Does this now make the male superfluous? The gene pool now does not require him.
Hmm, I guess now I better learn how to mow the lawn and change a auto tire.January 7, 2003 at 6:55 am #98828Jeff Hester
KeymasterOuch! I resemble that remark. Of course, we’ll always be useful as the butt of jokes.

MemberHi all!!!
Avoiding the War of Sexes, I have to say that Gattaca was a big hit on the theaters here in Europe (or at least in Spain), I watched it twice so far.
And going back to the topic, I heard the news once in Spain. Ethically I think it does not have any justification for anybody to create a clon. I don’t know if it is legal over there, but there is definitely legislation here about this, it is ilegal (not to mention ethics, morals, and risks for the created being), do you guys know about the legislation in USA???, isn’t there a legislation there?, If so…why do they announce it as a success?

KeymasterWelcome back, Natalia! Yes, cloning humans is illegal here in the U.S. as well.
I tend to believe this Cloneaid thing is a hoax and nothing more than an huge publicity stunt for a wacko organization.

MemberCloning would really throw our civilization out of order. There would be clones everywhere and imagine the side-effects if something went wrong… Parents would be devastated.

MemberQuote:quote: Parents would be devastated.Parents? kinda insulting to parents dont you think? in all cases there is only one ‘donor’ contributing to the cell base for a clone.
The compost bins of the cloner’s labs are already full of ‘mistakes’, dont you find it interesting that even ‘Dolly’ the sheep has never been repeated? When its not able to be repeated with a sheep why risk humanity? where are your morals?
I would like to believe that as Jeff said… its a hoax by a group of weirdo’s. -
