MemberHi Y’all! A friend of mine said he received an IM from Yahoo about there being a complaint and it had some link that he said he couldn’t access. His Yahoo was deleted. He’s trying to figure out if this was because someone filed a complaint against him or if it’s his work who deleted it? He said his work IT dept announced that employees would no longer be able to use Yahoo IM by like May 1. So, he’s been thinking it’s ok now. I’ve told him to be careful, why risk your job? Anyway, just trying to see if I can help him find out why. Can he contact Yahoo to find out? Thanks! 🙂 Missy

MemberIf he broke the TOS (terms of service) agreement it is possible to have his account removed. although I have never really heard of anyone losing their account before but it is possible. as for yahoo sending him an IM – I never heard of that either. (not saying it isnt possible) after all it is yahoo. I doubt he can contact yahoo and get answers as to why. I would suggest he make a new account. No email or IM is so important to risk losing your job as I believe you already know more and more companies are checking out their employee’s for this type of behaviour so yeah he should be very careful. Im sorry that I cant be of more help but if you wait I am sure some of the other members here at the BBB will offer you their input as well. have a wonderful day.

MemberThanks William 🙂 That’s what I told him……that if he violated TOS, my guess is that Yahoo could do this. He’s fairly new to this area and I know he had some online relationship where he used to live. He said that ended, but he didn’t want it to, etc. My best guess is that maybe I’ve been talking with a not so nice guy ( my stalker red flag has gone up! ) and that his “ex” perhaps reported him to Yahoo. I told him that if he knows he hasn’t had any type of communication on Yahoo that would warrant removal, then it’s safe to think his work did it. I was just trying to be nice and see if I could help him figure out who to contact so he’d know. But, the more I think about it…….if that happened to ME……I’d know that I haven’t violated the TOS, so I’d automatically think work did it. Hmmmm
Thanks! 🙂 MissyApril 13, 2006 at 3:32 pm #142369williamlee
