MemberI do not understand why when a friend (or one of my IDs ) logs in as available I don’t get the alerts (I have both the pop up windows, the one at the bottom right and the normal dialogue box and the play a sound activated). If they come online with a predifined status or a custom made one, I can see them login.
I already wrote to yahoo, but I had some useless answer for now, saying it might be my connection or my browser which, IMHO, is a load of bollocks.
Anyone having this kind of problem?
thnxDecember 28, 2003 at 5:34 pm #51960heartless

I had another couple of mails from help, tried their suggestions (from uninstalling and reinstalling to delete yahoo folder and install again) and still the alert doesnt work.
I will keep you posted on this, in case they find a miracle solution for this problem.
Of course, if it is a program fault we will have to wait until they debug it…grrrrr….with older versions this didn’t happen!!December 29, 2003 at 6:24 pm #51955lella

MemberBe Understanding and rememeber yahoo is a free services so some minor quirks are going to happen , Also the newest build of messanger is 1365 if you have an earlier version try uninstalling it and redownloading the newest one I understand its a pain but its free and most of the time it works .

if it was working fine with the old version .. then y dont u install old verson of yahoo messenger.. i guess it has a better facility of keeping offline messeges as well… u just need to rename a file “yupdater.exe” to “yupdat.exe” which is in “C:Program FilesYahoo!Messengeryupdater.exe” & u will not get any prompt for updating it with the new version.Enjoy !!:)
