MemberCan anyone help me please? …I recently purchase the Logitech Webcam 4000, and I have the XP os, I connect with dsl, and I downloaded version 5.5 of yahoo messenger to use the cam with. The cam worked fine for the first few days. Now the cam appears to work fine until somebody opts to view it then it freezes up. I’ve turned off the Firewall. After reinstalling yahoo several times and tinkering I’ve begun to give up hope. I will gladly welcome any sugestions. Oh and I have been on the compatiblity sites and it works fine it only freezes when somebody want to view it …I can view other peoples cams however.

KeymasterSo you’ve tried Yahoo’s webcam compatibility test? Works fine there?
Do you get any sort of error message at all? Does the user on the other end get an error message?

MemberNo error message, and the user on the other end didn’t get one either just freezes on her too.

MemberUnder Login … Preferences … there is a dialog associated with
Super Webcam. I would suggest you and your friend (both) try selecting “Keep broadcasting in Standard Mode”.Does it still freeze up on you in this mode?

MemberThank you …I downloaded the service pack and ran it in only standard mode it still freezes up when she views it …However it does not freeze up on other people, hence I’ve determined the problem lies with her system. She run Windows NT and has a network, she claims to be able to view other peoples cams just not people who have a logiteck cam. So there must be an issue with logitech and Windows NT.

MemberGood observations!!!!
Has she checked out Logitech’s site for any updated drivers for her cam on NT? (haven’t looked myself – they’re usually available under either downloads or customer service)
When a product has been developed, survival mandates that they “ship ’em” as fast and hard as they can. Any included software is usually woefully out of date. They can’t afford to care, but they will make the “better software” available after-the-fact. Have her check it out.
