So, I have a Gateway Solo 1150 from a few years back I think from 1999 and it is running windows 2K. Now whenever I go to turn it on it just beeps and then the fan is running and the computer is on but the screen just stays blank. Any ideas on what is going on. I have the 3 recovery disks, but they’re no use since the screen is black.
You’ve got a few possibilities here.
Your video card is shot.
Your computer doesn’t much like your video card anymore.
Your monitor is shot.
Your video cable going from your monitor to your computer is shot.I suggest taking a look at the monitor and cable first, maybe swap it out for a different one?
Most likely CPU/Motherboard, or Memory failure. There is not much you can do without a good amount of technical experiance in debugging that.
