MemberThat’s right….Gmail has finally rolled out their POP3 and Forwarding service. All Free!
According to google, they will be rolling out this service by phases and within the time frame of 2 weeks, every Gmail user will be able to Enjoy their POP3 and Forwarding Service.
I have already got my service up and running… 😆 and I can say that it is quite nice to be able to use Gmail through Outlook express, but…it is still quite buggy, for example, it will take up to 4-5 hours before the new message will actually show up in your outlook express inbox! (for me anyways). But they’re getting there. I expect the google team to work all these issues out within the next 2 weeks.
The type of mail client the POP3 service will support are:
# Outlook Express and Outlook 2002 (and older) (Windows)
# Outlook Express and Outlook 2002 (and older) (Mac)
# Outlook 2003
# Entourage 2004
# Entourage X
# Eudora 5.1 (and higher) (Sponsored & Paid Mode)
# Eudora 5.1 (and higher) (Light Mode)
# Netscape Mail 7.x
# Netscape Mail 6.2
# Netscape Mail 4.5, 4.6, or 4.7
# Apple Mail
# Mozilla 1.7
# Thunderbird 0.xSo if you’re a Gmail user…in 2 weeks…expect some sweet changes.
THANK YOU GOOGLE! 😀

MemberHow will we know exactly when we are able to use the service? Will we get an e-mail from Google? Or will there be a link on the site when it is available to us?

You’ll get a link that says New Feture in your gmail, then you know u have it.
And yea i’m glad for pop3. Fowarding isn’t new. I do that now. I forward all my gmail to my rogers account, which I read in Outlook 2003. But now I dont have to foward anymore. 🙂
