Memberlook at what i heard…
AIM intends on hightening Security on the Client in order to release payment plans.
Of course they can’t charge all users for it, there will be the small upgrades for normal Free AIM Version, and there will be big big updates for the paying AIM Customer.
Once the Security plan is finished, AOL will start charging AIM users for extra features like:
no rate limits.
no warning level.
unrated profile.
unlimited buddy list.
bigger limit for buddy icons.
formatting your screen name.
no ads.
some animations like pop up buddy boxes.
some more custom stuff that you can do.thats what i heard!!
does anyone know if this is trueAugust 7, 2003 at 12:50 am #57769korruptmind

MemberI agree, i doubt aol would delete the warning level and such. It sounds too good to be true. But if people are willing to pay im sure aol will give it to them. But then theres the problem with hacking, everyones going to find a way to steal the version.

does anyone know if this is trueThis has already happened. I have the proof right here… http://enterprise.aim.com/products/aim/personalcerts/
They are called security certificates which offer 128-bit encryption for IMs and chatrooms in which you pay 14.99 a year to use.
The ohe thing AOL will never ever give up are ads –
AIM users who pay no money for AIM get ads =)
Users who pay rediculous money for AOL still get ads =)
Whats actually funny is that people on AOL who pay get more ads than AIM users if you think about it.
What is even more funny is that people who use AIM have an easier time getting rid of the ads than AOL users.August 7, 2003 at 3:55 am #57766BrdMc3
