ParticipantDo you play the guitar? If so, what kind?
I got an electric and a classical.

MemberI have a really crappy electric one that I don’t really play anymore. I used to be able to play a whole ton of songs but I forgot them all with the exceptions of really easy ones like Smoke on the Water and Iron Man.

Participantits never late to make a new start mate!

MemberYeah, I’m thinking about it. I’d probably sell my crappy one and get a new one (maybe even a cheap Les Paul!) and I’d have to get a new amp as well. Maybe once I get a car… and a laptop…

ParticipantMany people learn guitar on their own and I did that also, of couse your cant go very far like that, but if u need it for personal entertainment, then guitar is the instrument to learn alone.

MemberYeah. I used to take lessons and that’s how I found out how to play those songs and others. If I were to take it up again I’d surely learn by myself.

Participantyes and internet helps a lot if u wanna find songs to play, there are numerous sites with tabs like http://www.guitartabs.cc and http://www.ultimate-guitar.com I think those two are the best.

MemberYeah, I’ve been to guitartabs.cc myself a few weeks ago when looking up the Stairway to Heaven tab (first time in three years I brought out my guitar).

Participantlol, well if u love that instrument u gotta practice more often, I play every day, even silly stuff just strumming, to keep my fingers “updated”.
and stairway to heaven intro is pretty easy.October 22, 2004 at 2:05 am #36293mynameisdougb

KeymasterI play classical guitar, although I also have a regular acoustic guitar. I studied under Sulaiman Zai at IUPUI many, many years ago.
I still occasionally play my classical guitar (the second guitar I ever owned). I bought it with the funds I earned on my paper route back in 1975.
My advice is keep it up. Music is a gift to treasure.

MemberI used to play and still have a B.C. Rich warlock. And not one of those crappy versions they sell now a days. Mine is decked out with everything, even the Floyd Rose tremelo. Candy apple red with gold hardware.
Alas somthing else I can’t do anymore. I guess I will just keep it around for memorabila *thinks he spelled that wrong*

ParticipantI play acoustic and electric guitar. I generally noodle around on my acoustic alot, as I’ve been living in condo’s and apartments the last few years, but next week I’ll have a nice big house to practice in the basement whenever I want. My Les Paul Studio is itchin to be plugged into my nice big Marshall Amplifier. 😀 It’s been ignored too often since my high school/college days of playing in rock bands. I have an old album my buddies and I wrote, performed & professionally recorded available for a listen over at http://music.download.com/apidadafu if anyone’s interested.
I gotta agree with Jeff, music is definately a gift to treasure. I’m toying with the idea of setting up a makeshift digital studio in my basement as well. We’ll see how that pans out. 😉

MemberLets see… the first one I got was an Art & Lutherie acoustic back in June. Just a few weeks ago, I purchased an Ibanez bass… GSR 200 I beleive. I mostly play bass, in Jazz band and I have a rock band as well… we don’t have a name yet or anything though. I also play tuba, baritone and piano.
Here’s some pictures…
