hackers got more than the average iq.they r good programmers.

KeymasterHackers are good programmers? A few are, but most people who call themselves hackers are wanna-be programmers who don’t have an original thought in their tiny, destructive heads.
Some are good, smart people who “hack” to raise awareness of security holes and even report them to the software companies. I respect that.
But many more are just looking for ways to screw people over. On a small scale, they are cyber-muggers. They may be clever, but they’re still muggers. I have no respect for them, nor do they deserve any. On a large scale, they become cyber-terrorists, only worse, because usually at least a terrorist believes in something.
If they’re such great programmers, why not create some great programs? Why wreak havoc? Why not have a conscience?

MemberThe word “hackers” is miss used in media and most of the time when people talk about them. If you consider the definition of a hacker as someone that can break passwords using programs and such, then you’re wrong. Those are crackers. Hackers are those who have a great knowledge of the Unix operating system and can do things to a system using command lines. That is the true definition.
As Jeff said, most “hackers” or crackers are not good programmers, they are most likely kiddies that think they are cool by hacking. Or something with that extent.

MemberNot all hacking is bad. This is done consistantly in many corporate, business, and software production lines all the time. Without hackers of this nature to test out a program’s weakness you wouldn’t be receiving updates on better software for better security. Unfortunately there will always be others who use these abilities for malicious purposes. MS have their own form of people whom do hacking, aol uses them as well but their intent is towards bettering their products.
Jeff is right about the other types being programmers. There are really only a handful of people who are the programmers and know what they are doing while the rest of the majority use what others have all ready made and may not have a clear understanding themselves of it’s use. Not every claimed hacker or cracker is as knowledgable in these fields or as they claim to be programmers.
The two words are mixed up I agree.
Bragging about this type of stuff in public chat rooms is very unprofessional and so is using the internet directly to do so. And yes, these people are more crackers, or as it was termed “wanna-bes”
People whom do this for a living, the true ones, do not boast and have far more integrity and put their time into much useful projects then just gaining access into someone’s computer or cracking ID names and would look down at wanna-bes as a disgrace.

MemberI think the concept of hacking has made many people confused, I know I am. When I think of hacking I think of a kid getting mad at one of his buddies and stealing his password. So I get scared when one of my little grease haired friend threatens to hack my password, so I change my password and blow it off. Is this what hacking is? I believe that there are people out there who are really good at what they do and I respect that.

ParticipantOnly Good hackers are Good.
it can mean 2 things…
– a good hacker is good at thinking/iq and stuff– You can use the power/mind/iq of a Good hacker to prevent people from hacking you.
i’ve seen a list with common passwords.
hackers have built that list. and now you can use it to pick a root password.and a good hacker won’t harm your files.
it will rename your index and put a ‘hacked’ index in that place.
you can get mad about that. but think about it..
that hacker used something to place that file there.
good hackers will tell you how they got in.then you can change that to prevent more hacks.
btw i’m not hacker. sometimes i can loginto systems…
but i always report bad passwords, and i don’t try. only if i’ve found a password.
thats why i had Allowee’s Security Team, allowee.madsims.net
google for it because it doesn’t exists anymore -
