ParticipantSo since I didn’t see a topic like this already, I decided to start a nice little place for Harry Potter for other HP nerds… I got the book on the 16th (thank you Amazon) and I should have had it read by Sunday night, but considering that the 16th was my birthday also… anyway I finished it, and I want to know if anyone out has finished so we can talk about it 🙂

MemberShadow, I still haven’t gotten around to reading the fourth book (Goblet of Fire). I know, I know, I’m such a slacker.
Anyways, yesterday I went out with my best friend on a lunch date, and we drove all around to try and find the book for her. Walmart was out, so was Hallmark. She finally got the last copy at Giant.
Don’t tell me! I still have to catch up!

MemberI’m about half way through it… normally I read it within a couple of days of it being released, but I was too busy this time round. Give me a couple of days and i’ll be ready to talk about it. 🙂
Can I just remind everyone to use the spoiler tags ( ) if they’re going to give any of the story away? I almost didn’t look at this topic in case someone gave something away.

Give me a couple of days and i’ll be ready to talk about it.I was the same way, it too me longer than my usual 2 days, but this one was released on my birthday… hurry and read I want to discuss. The only thing I am saying now is, the end really ticked me off, and we better get more than 7 books, especially if what happ… pooey I am not using a spoiler tag, but just the color of text #f2f2f2, spoilers are 1 line and hard to read when a lot is typed, this will be normal text, still highlight to read
Spoiler:
Especially if Harry doesn’t dont back for the 7th year (assuming the school does reopen) and Hermione and Ron follow. I mean how can they kill dumbledore, and just have the school close, I mean errg, it made me so furious that night I finished it. And Snape, I suspected him from the begining, I mean who didn’t? And the chapters before they actually told who the half-blood prince was(when Harry hit Draco with the curse in the bathroom) I had it figured out. It was really good, and I really hope JK gives us more!July 21, 2005 at 6:31 pm #126442Lucifina
Member*waves white flag cautiously looks around* Um, I haven’t read any of the books, hehe. The movies were pretty good, but I’m sure the books are much better. I hope to read them someday. My little brother got the first book or two and he never read them, the little muggle lost them and they were hardback! I have a thing about always owning hardbound books. So for those who have read and are reading, what do you think so far?

ParticipantI loved (love) them. I got 1-4 at the same time, so I was a little late into the HP world, but I read 1-4 in 2 days, never ate, I swear. So far I have preorded tickets the opening of all the movies, I guess I am addicted, and should really read the books, my dad watched the movies with me and he is semi-lost, you just so much more from the book. So has anyone finished #6 yet?

MemberI got the Half-Blood Prince at the midnight release, and finished it 2 days later. It is soo good. I would never expect the ending that happened. However, when I thought about it, I realized that it is very appropriate that it happened. Ha, it’s really hard to discuss a book with people without giving away the ending. Was there anything that someone thought should change?

MemberI read it in less than 6 hours.
Good book.

ParticipantColin wrote:Ha, it’s really hard to discuss a book with people without giving away the ending.Well I can get the title changed to something like “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince [Spoilers]” and that way people were warned… if they come in and they ruin it for themselves… to bad so sad. That was the intention of this thread, for discussion of the 6th book, for people who have read it. I really want to discuss it…
[EDIT]- Jeff kindly changed the topic name for us, so please share all your thoughts, and don’t worry about spoilers, they have been warned now!

Good book, but I don’t like how she ended it. She’s so good at writing effectively, I can hardly wait for the next book to come out! 🙁
I really do wonder what will happen now that *person* is dead. The story could go anywhere from now onwards. I truly can’t wait.
Are we allowed to post spoilers?

I agree, I what will happen to the dead person (well we can say their name now), and it could gone on forever, and it has a possibility too. I mean JK cannot just finish off Voldemort and finish everyone else dreams in one book, and now that Hogwarts may not open, and permiting it doed, Harry may not even go back… it just, er, I am.. ah, I just cannot wait for the next, nor the 4th movie (Trailer has been out awhile now.. see it if you havent). I also wander what Harry will do with his added fourtune and house (AKA Order’s HQs)? Anyone of thoughts or ideas?July 22, 2005 at 11:54 pm #126433Oreo
MemberI FINALLY finished it yesterday. I have been working a LOT getting ready for an event we had today. Wow…..what an ending….left me feeling sad and cold.

ParticipantExactly how I felt, chickenkicker, and also they CANNOT have Hogwarts NOT open and have Harry NOT go back, if they don’t, then, then… then I will go on strike!
