MemberOk when I try and upgrade my aim 5.2 to beta it says the files for installation are not available please try again later. So I got that and I went to AIM and clicked upgrade and I downloaded the upgrade….but when I click the upgrade that says ‘AIM_Beta_5.5’ or whatever It doesn’t open I just see an hourglass for a second then it doesn’t do anything.

ParticipantWhat OS are you running, and how much RAM do you have?
February 22, 2004 at 9:23 pm #49397plastidcells
Memberso did you uninstall AIM?
http://ftp.newaol.com/aim/win95/Install_AIM.exe
is that the program you have? try redownloading that just in case (that’s straight from aim.com)
and why is it “AIM_beta_5.5”?
i thought aim was done with the beta already but i could be wrong since i haven’t been paying attention recently
so what you would do is go to add/remove programs in the control panel, then uninstall AIM. then (re-)download http://ftp.newaol.com/aim/win95/Install_AIM.exe that (to your desktop let’s say) then just double click the programtry to elaborate more on your situation cuz anything longer than 1 line replies help

MemberI think she is trying to use the upgrade option that you can access from AIM. If she is, it doesn’t work. For as long as I have had AIM, and no matter what version I use, it doesn’t work. So you should try going to AIM.com and getting the latest versions or use the link provided by plastidcells.

MemberI have XP and I don’t know how to check how much RAM I have
February 23, 2004 at 12:05 am #49392David
ParticipantTo check your RAM under Windows XP first Right-click on My Computer -> Properties -> General (Tab). Your RAM should be listed near the bottom.
I’m not really sure why double clicking the install icon fails to work, maybe when you download AIM you should hit ‘Open’ instead of ‘Save’?
