MemberDo you run a firewall, or installed something new?
If so, it may have blocked certain IP ranges when Messenger has tried to connect, forcing messenger to go down its server list looking for a server which will connect, which takes time!
This is just a guess at the problem. It’s usually something new introduced or taken away that causes a problem.

MemberTry this Im not sure if it’ll work but I also use the Zonealarm prog. Double click on zonealarm and go to Program control and then scroll down and find yahoo messenger (the icon) and if u see 4 red x’s then left click on the center of the x’s and put the green checkmarks(allow) if that doesnt work then just shut down zonealarm and then get into yahoo messenger and after u r logged in then go to the start button and click on zonealarm again to turn it back on. If this doesnt work then I dont know what the prob is,anyways goodluck:)

MemberI also use Zone Alarm firewall in conjunction with Windows XP firewall, upgraded to 5.6 and have been getting great results, no problems at all. Anyone tried to use Nortons, SystemWorks?

ParticipantWell, I tried them all, The firewall with no proxy connects right away, But, I don’t like it, It always gives me the illegal operation thingy and you can’t tell when someone is typing you a message.
