CYANIDE
MemberSo say I want to appear offline at all times, even though technically I”m online… mostly this would be for AIM, but since I run Trillian I was wondering if it worked there… in fact, I don’t even know how to make it work on AIM… anywho… HOW DO YOU DO IT… I still want to be “connected” but not to the point that people know when I’m on… that kind of thing you know, unless I message them… or whatever…
Yeah, that about covers it… whoopie….

MemberI believe AIM only have two statuses, Back and Away, which means you cannot appear offline on AIM.

MemberAhhh, but you can… I have a friend that manages it… as in you can send him an instant message, his name isn’t highlighted, doesn’t show up as online, and he still gets it… of course when you attempt to send the message it has this nice little quote saying “The user appears to be offline and *might* not get the message” now if he’s really offline, I get an error, but when he’s really not offline but hidden, I get his away message…

MemberIn Trillian, there are only two statuses you can set yourself as. Away, and Back (online). You cannot hide yourself, but I do know what you are talking about :p.

We’re talking about Trillian here, not AIM.

ParticipantRight, well there’s a couple things here. Yes you can on AIM, as been stated, and yes you can on Trillian. But, the thing is, you can only use invisible on MSN, Y! and ICQ. The reason that you can’t use it on AIM is because the newest version of AIM is newer than the newest version of Trillian. I imagine they’ll add it the next time around. But the way you use invisible for MSN, Y! and ICQ is you right click on the medium (the little balls that represent the different messengers) then go to Set Status –> Appear offline.

MemberWHOA your getting me confused, THE ONLY WAY you can appear ‘invisable’ on AIM is if your using AIM Vs 5.5 or higher. (and u’d have to click the ‘eye ball’ next to your buddy list to do so, or be using IR Filter) YOU CAN NOT appear invisable on Trillion Pro 2.013 or lower BECAUSE trillion is only using AIM 5.0 and AIM 5.0 dose not have the option to become ‘invisable’ it is however possible to become ‘invisable’ on MSN Y! and ICQ but you’d have to go into there prefs and change you ‘apperance’. there are certain programs that can make you appear invisable like IR Filter, but they slow you IM prg down, and occasionaly crash it exspecialy if its connected to trillion, and the only way you can get thouse to work is if you change you connection PORT and the HOST. and I also doupt that the ‘invisable option’ using IR Filter would work on trillion.

ParticipantSign on with AIM.
Sign on with Trillian.
Go invisible with AIM.
Now send “1” to “AOL System Msg”
Shut down your AIM client. You are now invisible on Trillian – far from perfect, but it can be done.

Just to be really clear on this… Trillian (that’s Trillian ;)) doesn’t use AIM 5.0 or any other type of AIM. It uses its own totally rewritten connection procedures (although obviously it tries to “look” like AIM when it connects).
