Home › Forums › Archives › Instant Messaging › Yahoo! Messenger Support › How can I find someone’s IP through IMs?
you see, someone’s been bad-mouthing me in YM..
i have a hunch on who he/she might be.. but i wanna make sure if it’s really him/her..
anyways, i just wanna know if someone knows a way of how i can find out his/her ip..
thanks a lot!!^^
It depends on whether that person has P2P(peer to peer)blocked,in the past I could grab IP’s of people on my friends list using a packet sniffer-monitor,or using netstat but that was a long time ago and yahoo have seriously updated user security so its a lot harder these days to grab IP’s.You could try netstat in command prompt(you need to be in pm with that person-responding to them for netstat to work),type netstat -n(including space)and hit enter on your keyboard but chances are you won’t get very far.If you can get the person to accept file transfers(send file)or cam invites you can get an IP that way as well, but the chances of them actually accepting either are miniscule.
I know this probably isnt what you want to hear but you could always just ignore them if they are persistantly bashing you.
good luck.
This is not the place to be asking how to find IPs of people. If something is really that bad I suggest you contact the authorities or do what tinethle suggested and ignore the person. As the saying goes “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but names can never hurt me.” Ignore and the person will move onto some one else who reacts, do not come looking for ways to find their IP here…because it’s not condoned. Thanks.
