How do I add a buddy ?

Iv’e tried all ways to add my mate to my list, but I just cant seem to figure it out, I have a few options like name address interests etc, but when I enter in his name and nickname it just says basically he dont exist ??
Also he cant add me that way cos it only allows 15 characters in the nickname field whereas my nick is 16 characters , so hows that supposed to work then ?

To add a name open AIM, click on the Setup button and click Add Buddy. Also, I dont see why your friend has a problem adding your name to his list, because I have a few people on my list that have a 16 character screen name.

Ok i’m useing AOL instant messenger v5.1.3036 and there isnt any setup on here, there is though people/find a buddy, but in there I can only find them by

1.email address
2.name and address
3.by common interest

If I choose 2 I can put his nickname but I also have to put a first name (seems silly really cos I might not have known his real name??) But it comes up user unknown, well he is cos I have spoke to him, I have now added him by opening an IM with anyone, then typing his nick into the drop down, sending an IM then adding him that way. In the same catagoury I tried it again to add my own name in there and as I got to the last character I had that “DING” It wouldnt let me type the last letter ?????????? Bloody stupid how they let you make an ID with over 16 letters but you cant search for any over 15 ???????????????

You click the SETUP button at the BOTTOM of the buddy list. The icon is a plus and a minus. From there, in the new window, you click Add a buddy. You type in the Screen Name of the buddy and it RETURN TO BUDDY LIST. Is that clear enough for you?

Well thanks for that (even though your attitude stinks (typical yank) why didnt it just have “Add Buddy” at the bottom ? Of course thats tooooooo easy.

Close the door on your way out and dont slam it ok….

Yeah, chill with the attitude. 🙂 The person came for help, and got rudeness. An easier way is to type ALT-S.
