MemberI sort mine by best friends, OK friends, and bad friends. And for other things like bigblueball I have them sorted by website. Those who fall under a special category, like my friends gf’s / bf’s get their own section also.

MemberI made mine “the good”, “the bad”, and “the ugly”.. “the good” is where I put people I ACTUALLY talk to, like online.. “the bad” is where I put people taht I’m kind of friends with, but don’t talk to ever really much online, but still read their away messages and profiles.. and “the ugly” is where I put people I hate. =)

ParticipantMy buddylist is sorted like this. AOL, AIM, Names (my screen names), and ….. which are usally people I mess with when I become bored. Also try things like, putting dases or other things where the spaces would go.

MemberWow…I gotta get with the program. I renamed the Buddies catagory to Online and got rid of Co-workers and Family. This way, I have Online and Offline…guess I do things the uncool way.

Participanthaha I dont think there is realy an uncool way…i just changed my buddies to just “buddies” as my category (tonight)but its so hard from using one thing most of your online life (like font) and then to switch all of a sudden. but I dont like having just a buddies group anyway so thats why im asking for everyone elses.

Participantok for the people who have a ‘buddies’ category or ‘friends’ whatever, how is it organized? like from top to bottom…people you like the best to people you dont like or ppl you talk to often to people who dont come onlin ever or what
March 17, 2004 at 2:35 am #83010David
ParticipantErrm…..I know it’s better to have it organized into categories, but dude, top to bottom, that’s just screaming ‘I need a life’, don’t take IM so seriously. As for your question, mine are all mixed, I don’t go by any ‘category order’.

MemberBecause of my OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), it is constantly A to Z.

KeymasterHow do I organize my buddy list? Not very well. 😉
Seriously, I run Trillian Pro and it helps some. One nice thing is that it lets me create “meta contacts” where all the screen names for a person are collected under a single identity (regardless of whether it’s on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, or ICQ).
In addition, I have the following categories:
- BigBlueBall – for all the people who IM me through the website. I also have a subcategory for Moderators
- Friends
- Winfire – Contacts from my days working for a dot-com startup
- Co-workers
- Family
- Bots – Just to group them all together and keep them straight from all the real people
I also hide empty groups and offline contacts.
I have alerts setup for certain people; sometimes a friend, other times a business associate. These pop-up a message whenever they come on or offline.

MemberI have OCD also, except since mine are aliased, I have them alphabetical by name. I also move people with away messages to the bottom, and then when they come back I put them back in their spot. Yeah, I have it bad. You should see my room.

MemberI think it’s really a personal preferance. Think up some creative categorys or something. But if your really need inspiration that bad, I have mine set up as:
Fizzle
(my screen names)
Shizzle
(people I talk to)
Nizzle
(people I dont know andor people I hate)Then for the arangement I just sort everyone so there in alphebetical order. (I can’t stand it when people have it away on bottom, it’s just this urge I get to always sort everything[no offense to anyone])
