someone is sending me harrassing (sorry about the spelling) text messages to my cell phone from a yahoo account i checked but they don’t have a profile (surprise surprise) is there anyway to find out who is doing this and get their identity?
You should report this to your local Police and then to your cellular provider and they are supposed to work together to try to find out who the person is and take the appropriate actions.

that is probably what I will have to do I just wanted to know if there was any way of finding out who it was on my own
On this topic, does anyone know of phones that will allow you to block messages/calls from certain numbers? I always thought it was odd that the phones I have owned didn’t have this feature.

Some Nokia in the range S60 with Symbian can do, there’s similar application for Symbian.
