MemberI tried to log on earlier on my laura88199 but it wouldn’t let me. I got this message that said ‘you have been logged off as you have been logged in on a different machine or device’ or something like that. Then I signed ontoi my other sn and sent myself a message. So then when I logged onto my laura88199 sn later I didn’t come up as an offline message. So does mean someones been getting into my account?

MemberI get this same prompt sometimes, but usually it is when I’m using an alternative IM program. I did a search and Jeff explains the problem well here.. good advice is to change your password.

MemberGood job Browneyes! Yes ChrisDsGirl like Browneyes said and Jeff in his post she directed you to, it could be that you connected to alternate IM program or had been logged into the Yahoo website or had been logged in on Y! Mess on another PC and when that person started their PC and got online it logged your ID in as it started up. Dont jump to think it is something malicious. Even if it was Chris had you been over there signed in on his PC to Yahoo! Mess?? Or at someone elses?? Jon and I hop on each others PCs and if we forget to put the others ID back on before we shut down Yahoo! Mess then we tend to bump the other off. This has happened alot since Ive been spending nights at my Moms tending her after her heart surgery. Ill take Jons laptop over there and turn on Y! Mess and BOOM lol I knock Jon off as he is here at our home on my PC signed onto Mess under his name.

MemberI’ve never signed onto my sn at his house or anyones except mine and I checked to see if Trillian was on and it wasn’t. It was him. I don’t really mind though.

Do you ever go to the Yahoo! website and sign in? It could be anything (IE) Groups, Games, ETC. Being signed into 2 or more Yahoo things can be understandably confusing to the Yahoo! servers.

MemberI normally stay signed into Yahoo! mail the entire day, whether I am on messenger or not. However, this problem has really surfaced just today. Prior to this, I haven’t seen this message but maybe twice. Odd isn’t it?

MemberJustCuz..I rec’d the same message today when I logged into my mail. I had to re-log onto messenger to make the prompt go away. I never think anything of it..just Yahell acting up. If it keeps happening I’d try reinstalling and go from there.
PS..Thanks Snuggle 🙂

Memberyes I was getting the exact same message, until my neighbour came took me round to his PC.
On his young lads screen I was being logged in automatically every time his son went on.
All sorted now and we don’t know how it happened…July 23, 2003 at 5:42 pm #92931justcuzican
MemberThanks everyone for your help. Admittedly, this has to be the message that would raise anyones eyebrow. Anyhow, thanks again, and take care.

MemberUsed to this was very very rare, now it seems to be pretty common for me to get this message. the first two years i was in yahoo i only had this happen twice were my name wasn’t signed into another computer with someone kicking me off. Theres a few people that i know, that used to be able to ghost you on messenger, i’m not sure if this is still possible, i’ve had it happen to me twice. I would highly doubt that this has happened here. You could of been signed into another computer, school, work, or a friends house, and it was set to save your id and password, so the next time they got online and you was already on, it would give you that message.
But here what i think happened, is with this version 5.6 I have gotten this message like 5 times in the past week or so, it is a huge bug in messenger, i know for a fact no one else has my password, and i also know my id isn’t signed into anyone elses computer. Anymore when i get this message i just re-login, I pretty much ignore it, but if you can’t log back into yahoo something could be wrong. I was running an illicit program last night, and yahoo has changed it to were it banned my name for 12 hours, and if i tried to login, it wouldn’t connect, it would give me the message like I had been logged off, so maybe they have changed their security around, and it created this bug, cause I had never seen it b4.July 23, 2003 at 7:56 pm #92936flyinghighnow
MemberToday I got wrong password, wrong password, I retyped it and then it said system not working, I try again and it said wrong password, wrong password, I tried it 2 more times it said system not working finally it let me on with the password I use. That was weird. I use 5.6 version and hardly ever have trouble with it.

MemberI wouldn’t reccommend changing your password unless you really need to, most of the time people are just paranoid, and think someone has their password, thing is if someone has your password, odds are they will just steal your id. I would reccommend changing your password if it’s a single word, or number, something really simple, and if u do change your password, make sure that you copy and paste the old password, as well as the new one, and you write down the new password. You don’t want to type in the wrong new password, and you have to type it in twice, trust me, it’s a lot better to just copy and paste it, or you really could lose your id.
