MemberOk, I’m a little confused. Are you talking about your email from Outlook or another program or just Yahoo?
If it’s yahoo, the only problem here is the lost password, which I’m not sure how you can get. Your emails shouldn’t be lost because they are kept on yahoo’s server—please someone correct me if I’m wrong. When I did a format this did not bother any of my yahoo emails so….
If you are talking about Outlook and have Windows ME/XP, I can give you instructions on how to do that.

Memberi’m talking about yahoo messenger and i’ve lost my password and every day when i enter to my id it enters automatically, but if i reinstall my windows, all my security files will be lost, so i must know what are these files that kept my e’mail yahoo enter without asking password cause is already saved in that files.
so, you understand now? 😀May 10, 2007 at 10:20 pm #158888Lucifina
MemberDeeDee just change your password or have it emailed to you. Go to Yahoo!, click the sign in option, type in your yahoo id and hit the link right under it saying “Forget Your ID or password”. That should do it.
I’m not sure if it will show, but here’s a link that you might be able to use:

Membercan you save all your cookies ? email them to your self with a different ID that you know the password for , then reinstall , then go to that email , get your cookies and put them back where you found them ? I do this with my favorites and someother things that would be difficult to start over with . I dont know if it would work for you . anyone think it might ?

ParticipantI don’t use Y!M much, but what you could probably do is backup your Application Data folders, export the Y!M tree from the registry and save your browser cookies (Just in case it does use them?–I wouldn’t think so). And then move them over.
I of course couldn’t guarantee this will work, but those are the only objects you can backup and move.

ParticipantWait what? Is the yahoo ID saved from Messenger, or is it saved locally in your web browser (like Internet Explorer or FireFox)?

Memberthanks for the reply’s
it might work in saving the cookies, but i’ve heard some files from yahoo messenger would be more efficiently.
detn8r, my yahoo id is saved on the messenger and when i start it of course i can enter into my e’mail adress.May 12, 2007 at 2:31 am #158889Dermot
ParticipantYahoo saves its saved password in the registry from messenger.
They used to save it very light encrypted called E-options string
They since changed how its encrypted because of malicious programs decrypting it when they stole the registry key.
I believe they now call it the ETS string.
I’m not positive if this key can be copied and put back in place after a reformat, i have never tried.
i could check if i was at home but im not so im not sure.

MemberHey DeeDee,
i once used a program called PW viewer or something like that when i had a similar problem. I just had to point on the password entry box and it showed me my yahoo and icq passwords (i had set my messengers to “login automatically” too).
I really cant recover tho where i got it, i think it was softpedia or so. Maybe just try a google search?Good luck

Memberyeah, it workd on other’s programs but not yahoo messenger. I dont know why but yahoo has a secured thing, that defaults the password of your yahoo program. so if someone’s trying to guess the password containing just 8 words u cannot, cause they have that secure thing, dont know what. so with this program is just showing me “password” word.
it’s not worth it:-( -
