ParticipantYou could try the different mirrors on the site, that is the official Fedora download server.

Memberok… I finally got everything ready to go. but there was a big problem… On the comp i’m installing linux on, there’s about 6.39 gigs on the hard drive… well when I was partitioning my hard drive, it said I only had about 8447.63 mb’s. so when I started the install, about half the way through, it said “cannot write to disk, not enough space.” This is dumb b/c I know for a fact that I have MORE than enough space to put 3 gigs of data on my HD. What can I do to fix this? oh yea, and another thing, while partitioning my HD the… 3rd time, I accidently wrote over Windows… so nothing should be on my HD now right? please help me, cuz i’m really frustrated @ this. It seems that this is the only bump in the road i’ve come to so far, and i’d like to get over this bump quite soon, especially before school gets busy again….

root@person: ~#
i dunno what to do here. And everytime I type anything I get these wierd commands like
useradd [-p passwd] [-g group]
i know thats not an exact picture but you get the general idea… I tried to typ “launch KDE” but it says “launch, unknown command.” so that’s where i’m needing help. ANYONE who can help PLEASE DO!!! thanks so much…

Memberok, it worked!!! yay, now KDE is up and running and I LOVE IT!!!! it works beautifully, much better than Win98 EVER did on that machine, even when it was new! But i’m trying to get hooked up to our home network for my internet connection. We have a home network connecting SBC Yahoo DSL to all our computers… now that i’ve got KDE hooked up, how do I get it connected to our DSL?

ParticipantOpen a terminal window. Type “ifconfig eth0” What is the output? If it errors on you, try “ifup eth0” if that errors too, then Linux did not detect your ethernet card, you will have to track down a driver. And again, t distro are you using?
